Women as Bridge-Builders in a Multicultural World
Developing Your Cultural Intelligence
Presented by Marie Bankuti, PCC, CPCC, PMP
The world is getting smaller. As new technologies in social media, transportation, and telecommunications bring us closer together, it’s more important than ever for organizations to recruit, develop, and retain individuals who can skillfully navigate the opportunities and challenges of an increasingly multicultural and global corporate environment.
Women are natural bridge-builders and translators. Bridging communications, relationships, tasks, and finding a common language to ensure alignment. Increasingly, though, the need to understand and balance different cultural styles within an organization is becoming necessary as well.
Different cultural nuances around directness, formality, assertiveness, holding time, and the like can lead to false assumptions, miscommunication, frustration and strained relationships. All of this can negatively impact engagement, effectiveness and service levels of employees and other stakeholders. Ultimately, affecting an organization’s bottom line.
What’s the answer? Developing Cultural Intelligence (CQ); the capability to relate and work effectively in culturally diverse situations.
In this interactive session we’ll explore how to increase and employ Cultural Intelligence in your professional relationships, to better navigate interactions and avoid unintended confusion, awkwardness and business disaster. You’ll…
• Gain insights into different cultural norms and values in business
• Understand how to access, appreciate and leverage cultural differences
• Develop confidence working with colleagues from different cultures
• Learn how to interact with your multicultural stakeholders with less struggle
